Chin Contouring

Mentoplasty involves the reshaping of the chin for aesthetic reasons. It is usually performed to enlarge a reading chinline or to correct an unusually prominent chin. The underlying purpose of mentoplasty is to enhance the patient’s overall appearance by achieving better balance of the upper and lower portions of the face.

Chin enlargement is generally used to give the illusion of a smaller nose and more pronounced neckline. There is minimal bruising from this procedure. It is usually done with rhinoplasty or facelift surgery, but can be done alone under a local anesthetic.

Note: Mentoplasty is intended for minor changes only. In patients with severe deformities, surgery of the jaw may be required.
