Endermologie is a treatment introduced by the French in this country to decrease the appearance of cellulite. The treatments are implemented by a machine that messages the tissue using a suction and skin rolling device that elevates the tissue as it massages. It has been used for a number of years to soften scars and to decrease edema or swelling.
After liposuction was first introduced in Franc by Dr. Illouz in the early 1980’s, it was only a matter of time before endermology was used to treat postoperative swelling and bruising. The endermology made a dramatic difference in resolving the swelling and bruising in a much shorter time than previously experienced. In some patients it was noticed that in addition to these benefits the presence of cellulite was markedly improved.
The endermology massager consists of two motorized rollers and a vacuum chamber. The combined action of the rollers folds and unfolds the skin while the vacuum lifts it producing a unique and invigorating massage. I have found endermology to be a very effective treatment that is pleasant as well as being very beneficial.
